Commercial Roof Repair Experience

commercial-roof-maintenance-300When it comes to your commercial building, the roof is one of the most expensive - and most essential - pieces. A leaky roof can mean serious damage to other systems in your commercial building. This is why it’s essential to hire professionals for commercial roof repair.

What if you have a maintenance person or even an entire crew in your building? Shouldn’t you just let them do the repairs?

Well, that depends. If your maintenance workers have experience in commercial roofing, they may be able to do the repairs themselves. But if this isn’t the case, hiring a professional Orange County roofing contractor can actually save you money in the long run. Here’s why:

Inexperience can lead to mistakes

Even if your maintenance crew has a bit of experience installing and maintaining roofs, they may not have all the experience necessary to truly do the job right. Mistakes with commercial roof repair can lead to larger consequences down the road - like leaks that cause problems with other systems.

Even simple mistakes like using the wrong equipment to get onto the rooftop can cause damage to your gutters or to the roof itself. Even walking on the roof incorrectly can cause problems that you have to pay to fix down the road. Then, you’ll find yourself shelling out more cash to fix those problems, snowballing the costs of the roof repair.

Non-professionals may miss details

Professional roofing contractors are always looking at the details of your roof. They’re not just going to check out the one spot that’s obviously leaking, but will look at things like caulking and sealing that’s about to go bad. Professionals are also skilled at assessing underlying damage, which can save you money in the long run.

For instance, if your commercial roof has been subtly leaking for a while, you may need new underlayment in parts of the roof. If this is the case, you definitely want a professional contractor who can spot this issue right away, providing you with a chance to fix it before more of the roof underlayment gets rotten and worn out.

Non-professionals may also miss details like spots in the roof that aren’t as obviously damage. Sometimes issues like hail damage and wind damage can be quite hard to spot. If your maintenance crew doesn’t spot the problems right away, they could become larger problems, which will be more expensive to fix.

It takes a real professional with years of experience working specifically with roofs to figure out when a minor problem is about to become a larger issue. And this kind of experience is invaluable, since it can save you loads of money in later repairs by fixing the small problems before they get out of control.

Professionals will do it right the first time

The key to having a great experience with commercial roof repair is to hire the best Orange County roof contractor. If you can be sure to hire a company that’s truly excellent at what it does, you’ll find that you save money in the long run because they’ll do it right the first time. Roofing companies by no means are all the same.

Roof repair can easily cost a huge chunk of your building maintenance budget if you have to keep repairing and repairing the same spot that doesn’t get fixed correctly - or if you don’t catch small problems before they become big problems. A professional roofing crew will save you money by cutting out these issues.

Maintenance is key

The real key to avoiding seriously snowballing costs with Orange County commercial roof repair is to hire professionals for periodic maintenance. As a business manager, you probably know that it’s cheaper to prevent problems than to fix them. This is nowhere more true than when it comes to your commercial building’s roof.

When it comes to your roof, your best option is to have a professional contracting company on standby to keep your roof in excellent condition. This means annual, bi-annual, or semi-annual roof “check ups,” where the roofers can determine if there are any areas that are about to become problematic. Catching problems early like this can cost you money in an ongoing maintenance contract. But it will save you money when it keeps that tiny fissure in your roof from letting in a whole lot of water down the road.

So when you’re facing the issue of getting your commercial building’s roof repaired, be sure to talk to the professionals about your roof repair needs. A truly experienced Orange County roofing contractor will be able to fix the problem quickly and efficiently, without costing you lots of extra money in the process.

What kinds of things should I be looking for on my flat commercial roof? I'm not sure what to look for to see whether or not the roof needs some maintenance.

You'll definitely want to check if there's any pooling water anywhere. That's not a good sign. If you can, check up in the attic or anywhere you can see roofing underlayment. If it has water stain spots, it's time to get the roof inspected. Of course, if you see other issues - like obvious leaks or spots where the roofing material is wearing thin - you may want to have a professional inspect the roof.

The heading in the article "Inexperience can lead to mistakes" hit home with our company.
The first commercial project we got involved in our project manager found a great deal on a sub for the new commercial roof, but with very few reviews and no references. The reason we found out later was that they were a new company. It didn't work out well and we learned a lesson.

Hi Josh, Sorry to hear you had issues. You're not the first person I've heard this story from unfortunately. And for us, we've lost jobs due to bids coming in low from inexperienced companies. It hurts everyone involved, but it's part of the customer's due diligence process to weed these out. We've been in business for decades and are a second generation family owned and operated business. The experience we have with commercial roofing is invaluable to our clients IMO.
